Shot in the Air (Hal Jordan) « Thread Started on Jan 6, 2009, 8:09pm »
Faye flew high over a forest she had never seen before. She was far from Metropolis, and she was sort of lost. Flying on the wind currents, she looked over the horizon, only seeign more trees in the distance.
Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her side as a gun went off, the bullet embedding in her stomach. Some bird hunters had thought she was a large bird and had shot at her, hopnig to catch her. She gasped and lost control of her powers, causing her to start falling down into the trees.

Hal was hiking in the forest, taking some time away from being Green Lantern and a superhero, as it seemed he spent more time in that uniform than he did his regular street clothes. He heard the sound of a rifle go off, which concerned him since this was a game reserve, which meant hunting wasn't allowed. He quickly willed on his uniform, and had his ring triangle where the shot came from and it's target. Looking up in the air, he saw what appeared to be a young woman, falling from the sky. He quickly flew up, and caught her in his arms, before flying towards the nearest hospital. Her life was more important to him than catching her assailants, that he could do later. "Miss, are you alright? Can you hear me?" He formed a bandage over her wounds, to stop the bleeding.

Faye let out an oopmh! as Hal cught her from falling and she was suddenly in a hospital. She was a bit disoriented from everything that had happened so fast and the loss of blood, and she gave herself a moment, sighing in Hals arms as she slowly opened her eyes. She looked confuzed, dazzled for a moment by his looks, then smiled. "You just saved my life" she said. She noticed a green bandage of light on her wound, which had stopped the bleeding.

"Lucky for you, I just happened to be in the area." As soon as they landed infront of the hospital, Hal command his ring to create a dozen small green spheres, each account the size of a baseball, and sent them back to the area where the ring had determined the shot came from. He wasn't sure if those responsible for shooting her knew what they were shooting or if their gun may have actually just mis-fired. Either way, he needed to find them before anything else happened. "Don't worry, the doctors here will take good care of you." He said, as he carried her inside, where he found a group of nurses to get a stretcher for her, as well as a doctor.

"Wait!?" She said, grabbing his arm as they prepared her for surgery. They needed to take the bullet out of her hip and check for any internal damage. Faye wasnt sure if he was leaving or not, but she wanted to thank him properly afterwards and know who had saved her. "Don't leave" she said softly, smiling softly as the nurses helped her in the stretcher and wheeled her away. She hoped he wouldn't leave before she got a chance to meet him.

"Don't worry, I'll be waiting out in the Waiting Room, when you get out." His ring had informed him that her injuries weren't life threatening, so he knew he could go out and look for her attacker or attackers, but his drones were quite capable of containing them without him being there. That being the case, he decided to wait and talk to her, to get her version of what had happen. He waited for over two hours, until the doctor came out to speak with him. "Green Lantern? The young lady you rescued is out of surgery, and she's already asking for you." Hal stood up, and asked her room number. He was surprised that she was conscious and alert, so soon after the surgery, something that had surprised the doctor as well. After hearing that the surgery was a complete success, he thanked the doctor, and made his way to Faye's room."I heard you wanted to see me."

Faye lay in the hospital room, looking a bit drained, but still happy. Her eyes brightened to see her saviour and she smiled. "Of course I wanted to see you, you saved my life" her waist was bandaged up, her wound stiched up nicely. "I never got to properly meet you or even thank you"

He took hold of her hand, knelt down, and gave it a gentle peck. While things were alot darker due to the War, he was still a gentleman, and treated every woman he could like a queen. "No need to thank me. I was just doing my job." He wondered if she was in good enough shape to answer some questions, as he didn't want to strain her. "Do you feel up to answering a few questions?"

Faye smiled as Hal pecked her hand. He was such a gentleman. "Questions? Yeah, i'm up to answering some questions" she answered, nodding and sitting up in her hospital, pulling her hair out of her face.

After hearing her say yes, Hal created a chair and sat down at her bedside. "Do you remember if you saw who might have shot you?" He knew the sooner he got these answers, the sooner he could prove just who her assailants were and why they may have shot her.
