Atop the Highest Building (Guy Gardener)

Faye sat on the edge of the highest building in Metropolis, her feet dangling over the side. She wore tight blue jeans and a v-cut red shirt. The wind blew her long red hair backwards as she looked over to the sunset, smiling.

Metropolis, the city protected by the big blue boy scout himself... Superman. Although today there was a very different hero flying at a rather relaxed pace above the modern mavel of a city, the one, the only Guy Gardner, Honor Lantern numero uno. In other words Guy was hot shit and he knew it... he just needed to show the other people on this dirt ball that he loved that he was more then a match for Hal or Kyle.

So the first place he thought about looking for a decent villian to kick around on his Earth leave was Metropolis. Well really he thought about going to Gotham first but knew that Batman wouldn't be worth the inevitable argument... so off to the city that attrachted the likes of Lex Luthor and the Parasite in the hopes of showing off a little bit.

There was just one small kink in his plan, no one was brave enough to show their face when he was flying above the city. "This blows." He muttered to himself, hoping against all odds that something would happen as he scaned the city with both ring and his eyes, still no villians but there was a cute red head sitting on the edge of a building and at least she would be someone to talk to.

"Hey you seen any evil doers around?" Guy asked as he soared down to her, trying o use his best 'I'm the hero' voice.

Faye looked up to see a really good looking man fly towards her. She had met a hero like him, only he was waaay better looking. You could tell she had the hots for him, because her cheeks turned red when she spoke. "Sorry, hun. Only one i've seen aroudn here is you" she said, smiling at him

EVIL DOER? For a second it seemed to Guy that she was calling him some sort of Villian. While he was willing to admit that he had man character faults he knew that he was far from a villian, even before he had put on the Green Ring he had been a teacher for developmentally disabled children.

But fortunatlly the annoyance ended before he did anything really stupid when he realized that she just ment that he was the only person that she had seen, and the cute blush certianlly helped him feel a little bit nicer. "Your kidding me, here I am in the city of Superdork himself and not a single idiot with a giant robot has shown up... is this their day off or something?"

Faye chuckled and shrugged her shoulders. "Mayeb they feel nervous because i'm out here" she said, winking playfully at him and smiling. She was a formidable fighter, btu certianly was no show-off. Though she had the feeling this guy was........

Guy raised an eyebrow at her comment that she was the reason they might be scared, he had to wonder if she was joking or something. He knew that there were plenty of women with power out there... maybe even one or two that could take him in a fight but they tended to wear costumes.

"Oh really, your that scary?" He asked with a small grin, sparks flying from his ring because he had nothing to do but hover and mantain his feild. "What is it you do that keeps the likes of Baldy or the Green smart thing indoors?"

Faye chuckled and grinned at him. "I can maniuplate the weather. You're looking at Mother Nature in tight jeans" she said, smiling. To prove this, she closed her eyes and focused. In a matter of seconds, the sky went dark with clouds and it began to rain on them.

Tight jeans were right, he was pretty sure that if she had quarter in her pocket he would have been able to read the date on them. Not that Guy had anything even resembling a complaint about that. Being a super hero ment spending a lot of time around and fighting people wearing tight clothing and not all of them should be wearing it, after seeing Dr Light for the first time Guy had been tempted to gouge his own eyes out.

"Weather manipulation..." He said with a small chuckle, a moments thought and an umbrella appeared over her head, nothing more then a solid energy construct. "Sure it has its uses but nothing beats the ultimate weapon in the Universe."

"Hmm, do tell" She said, smiling and making the rain stop. She was curious about his powers, and wanted to know more about them. She squeezed some rain out of her hair and shirt, which had began to cling to her body.

WHy had he tried to stop the rain, he had forgoten for a moment that wet clothing tended to get clingier and that was something he would never complain about. "This little thing does anything that I want it to." He boasted as he pointed at the ring on his right middle finger. "Say I want to smash something... I just point and think and I can blast it to bits... so how do your powers work?"

"Well, with a simple thought of my mind, i can create rain, wind, earthquakes, tornadoes, everything you can imagine. My main attacks are lightning based for offense, and fog for defense" She explained. She gently took his hand and closely examined the ring. "It's so amazing that such a small device could hold so much power" she said, smiling up at him, his hand still in hers.

Guy was getting somewhere with... well he realized that he really didn't know her name but the fact that she hadn't slapped him yet was a pretty good sign. Most other superpowered women tended to hit him shortly after he met them, probably because he was more or less a dick which he was willing to acknowledge. There were the occasional exceptions to that but that didn't end up going that well because he knew that his duty as a Lantern would always need to come first.

"Yea it is pretty good, something like this let me go toe to toe with Doomsday... big ugly grey thing that took down Superman a while back." Guy said in case she could have possibly forgoten a day that everyone on the planet seemed to remember. "By the way, I am Guy Gardner, Honor Lantern number one."

Faye smiled and released his hand, looking up at him. "I'm Faye Holm, 4 star chef and assistant music teacher" she said, smiling up at him. This guy certainly was a very cocky guy, but he was still cool, and he hadnt tried to hit on her yet, so it was allright. She enjoyed being with him, he was a funny guy.

"Teacher?" Guy asked a little bit suprised, he was sure that if she did anything in the fifth grade or above that the class will be very popular with the students. "I used to teach special needs kids in Detroit before I got the higher calling." He really didn't look down on teaching but he knew that what it took to be a teacher was a lot more common then what it took to be in the Corp. Unable to help himself he started to float back a bit, he knew that the rings weren't supposed to have a mind of their own but he could swear that his hated to do nothing, whenever he had it on it just felt as though he needed to be using it or else he would go out of his mind with boredom. As it was it was always sending out sparks and small flashes of light.

"A teacher fro Special Needs? Awww, thats so sweet!" She said, smiling at him. Wow, this guy was amazing, cocky maybe, but to teach kids who needed extra help was a big turn-on for her. "You're really sweet, you know that?" she looked down to see his ring emit sparks of green light. "Hey um, whats wrogn with your ring?"
