they say that all things, eventually, fall to pieces. that is exactly what happened on the day of chloe and jimmy's wedding. the walls trembled. glass shattered. people screamed. and, there were causalities. their beloved union became doomsday in a matter of an instant. reunions seemed trivial. love seemed incomprehensible. a monster, in some cases, acting only off of instinct and nothing more. all of it ripped away. all of it by doomsday.
but, somewhere, nowhere near this event, sat tess mercer. legs crossed and eyes poised. the leads were coming together slowly, and it would only be a matter of time before she found her mentor, lex. he was out there, and she would continue to believe until proven otherwise. no one, not even clark, could hide the truth. the harder they tried, the harder they would fall when it really came out. but she would need help, and who better to ask then luthorcorp business partner, if you could call him that, bruce wayne. tess hadn't met him personally, but she knew that lex had always trusted his sense in things.
however, it seems like mr. wayne is out of town, and hasn't been seen in sometime. meanwhile, an old friend or foe, if you will, has returned to smallville, on the heels of the resident red and blue blur, who he seems to know personally. and, who, you may ask is this old associate? the one and only jason teague, who now knows a lot more about clark's kryptonian heritage and doomsday's devotions then anyone would expected. it is no longer about crystals for him. it's about the fate of the world.
doomsday, though, will be the worse of their problems. seems that one of gotham city's resident mad men has broken out of arkham asylum and found his way to metropolis. not much is known about him, the only thing people remember is his laugh. soon, wedding troubles will be the worse of clark kent's problems. his feelings for lois are growing, and lana's return making it even harder to figure out what he wants. but does lana lang still carry a torch for ex-boyfriend jason teague. is his betrayal forgivable? and, what about his lies? those will even makke his betrayal seem tame.
what could bruce wayne want in smallville? and, if he does show his face, what will that mean for the justice league, who is currently adding members to their ranks. apparently wayne has a few secrets of his own, and reaching the bottom of clark's secret seems to be one of them. hopefully, oliver and his team can intercept the newly arrived vigilante before things blow sky high. and, as if that isn't bad enough, lex is watching. and he will return, just in time to watch the fireworks.
as the world burns, lex will sit on his luthorcorp throne, acknowledging only those who intend to help him solve clark's final puzzle once and for all. and while lex sits, the joker will rise, making sure that the only thing that is left of gotham, metropolis, and smallville, are ashes. ashes and cinders, burning until nothing is left at all.
